Honda

Here’s a beautiful look behind the scenes of the amazing “Hands” Spot for Honda by Analog Studio. The test-footage is especially interesting, reveling such details as custom 3D-printed models for interaction between the real actor and the 3D-models. It’s some fascinating stuff and anyone facing a complex VFX-project should definitely check this out. let me see »

Making of Nissan Juke Treadmill

Sometimes Car-TV-Commercials are complete 3D productions, sometimes they are real footage with strong postproduction. Mikros image used the whole range of production tools to bring a pretty unique vision for Nissan to life. Check out this breakdown of their work on the Nissan Juke Treadmill spot.

How to tame your dragon

Check out this fantastic VFX breakdown of a dragon taming/catching scene from Korean VFX artist YUJAEHO. He combines Softimage and the Arnold renderer to great effect and his water and smoke simulations are nothing to scoff at either.

YASAK VFX BREAKDOWN

Enjoy these wonderful VFX breakdowns for the movie Yasak by turkish studio GeniusPark. It’s nice work but the real kicker is the filming crew which looks exactly as turkish as you’d imagine. And they should, too, with beautifully exotic names like Berat Türkbıkmaz (CG & Comp. Supervisor).

MPC Fast & Furious 6 VFX breakdowns

I can only image the briefing for some of these shots: “Replace this completely generic street scenery with some other equally generic street scenery!” It’s all looking rather splendid, though.

Digital Snow by Disney Research

When I saw the first demo of Disney’s new snow simulation technique I was quite astounded. Now they released a whole presentation video and the results are mindblowing. This is one of the most impressive pieces of technology I’ve seen in a long time and it almost seems wasted on “Frozen”.

Lava Carving with Naiad

Fluid simulations seem to get better every day now. This amazing lava-simulation by Thomas Marqué is just another example of what’s already possible.

ABC Stout | Making Of

Enjoy this very well made breakdown of the “ABC Stout” commercial produced by White Chocolate studios. I really like how it shows the whole creative process from concept over previz to the finished spot.

Gregory Chalenko - Full CG Compositing Showreel 2013

Do your renders and compositings look this good? Gregory Chalenko does not only a great job at compositing, he also knows how to present his work. This is one of the finest compositing showreels I’ve seen. It’s fascinating to watch how much creativity happens during the compositing process, even when the renders are already top of the line.
